Challenges of a career on clinical trials for neglected tropical diseases

 

 

Dear young scientists, Have you ever dreamed of a career in the largest academic public health institute in Switzerland?

The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH), an associate institute of the University of Basel, is a leading institution in the field of improving global health and advising policy makers, agencies and institutions worldwide. Currently, the Swiss TPH employs over 700 staff members from 62 nations.

Thus, we are very happy to welcome Dr. Christian Burri, Professor and Head of Department of Medicines Research at the Swiss TPH, for our upcoming Career Chat on March 8th, 2016!

Working on overcoming the translational gaps existing in the implementation of R&D procedures into public health interventions, the speaker will present the key factors for success beyond scientific knowledge. In addition, based on his own intricate career path, Prof. Burri will encourage students to go off the beaten track and to take advantage of any opportunity.

Post-event update

Prof. Burri is a great speaker and did not have any problems with taking an audience for a journey through his career. People that joined us had a chance to learn more about Swiss TPH and challenges that its currently facing. The speaker shared also his wisdom and experience on career planning and avoiding a burn-out syndrome. Many questions were asked not only just after the talk but during a long apero afterwards!
