Roja received her Bachelor's degree in Industrial Biotechnology from Anna University, India. Her curiosity towards science made her move from a small town near Erode, India to Europe. Deutschland stipendium from Amgen aided her in pursuing master studies in Molecular Bioengineering at TU Dresden, Germany. This further paved her the way to pursue her PhD degree in molecular and cell biology under the guidance of Prof. Ulrike Kutay at the  Institute of Biochemistry, ETH Zurich. Her PhD research is mainly focused on investigating the disassembly mechanism of nuclear pore complexes. Besides her work, she likes running, yoga and science communication.
