Marta obtained her M.Sc. in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Porto, Portugal. After working as a pharmacist in a community pharmacy, she moved back to academia to take on more challenges, and enrolled for a Ph.D in 2012 at the Physiology Institute, University of Zurich. As part of her thesis she is currently trying to understand how kidney reabsorbs solutes and proteins via the modulation of V- H+ ATPase and its accessary subunit function. For her own physiology she actively participates in outdoor sports and is an enthusiast of lindy hop dance.
