Irene obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology at the University of Milano Bicocca, in Italy. During that time, she spent seven months in Barcelona as an exchange student at the Biomedical Sciences Faculty of Autonoma University. Later she moved to the Netherlands to pursue a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Business and Policy at the University of Groningen. She is currently working as a PhD researcher at the University of Zurich in the group of Applied Radiobiology led by Prof. Martin Pruschy. Her PhD project is focused on uncovering the fascinating, not so well characterized role of the immune system in determining an effective anti-tumor response in the context of fractionated radiation therapy.
Irene during her free time likes being into nature hiking and climbing or on a surfboard in the middle of the ocean.
