Giulia Mazzini, originally from Italy, holds both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from the University of Milan. In 2020, she moved to Finland for her Master’s thesis internship. She spent a whole year at the University of Helsinki under the supervision of Prof. Iiris Hovatta. Her Master’s thesis focused on identifying a specific neural projection’s role in regulating anxiety-like behavior in mice. Following her Master’s, Giulia continued her academic pursuit and joined Prof. Thomas Lutz’s research group as a PhD student at the University of Zurich. Her current research focuses on unraveling the specific mechanisms of action of amylin in metabolism and memory. When outside the lab, Giulia loves spending time with her family and friends, visiting museums and art exhibits, traveling, and taking pictures with her camera.
