Francesca Pietrafesa, M.Sc

  • Active Member

Francesca received her Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology at the University of Eastern Piedmont (Italy), where she had the opportunity to collaborate with the Italian National Research Council. She continued her studies at the University of Milan, where she pursued a master's degree in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine with a specialisation in neuroscience, her great passion. Her curiosity and desire to explore new horizons led her to go overseas, to Boston, where she did her master's thesis at Harvard University under the guidance of Prof. Clifford Woolf. Thanks to this opportunity she discovered her great interest in studying and understanding the mechanisms involved in pain. For this reason, she is currently part of the International PhD Program in Neuroscience, working in the laboratory of Prof. Hanns Ulrich Zehilofer, continuing her studies on this topic.
Having grown up at the foot of Mont Blanc (Courmayeur), in her free time she enjoys being in nature, playing sports and in particular hiking in her beloved mountains. But she also enjoys spending time with friends, perhaps playing a board game, and with her family (and pets).
