Anna Gramalla-Schmitz, M.Sc

Anna obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Molecular Life Science at the University of Luebeck (UzL), Germany. During her studies, she was awarded a scholarship by the German economy foundation (Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft, Klaus Murmann Stiftung). Interested in chronic viral infections and the interplay with the immune system, Anna performed her Bachelor’s thesis at the Institute of Virology, UzL in Prof. Dr. Norbert Tautz lab working on the bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV). She further completed her master’s thesis at the University of California, San Diego, USA in the lab of Prof. Dr. Elina Zúñiga working on CD8+ T cell exhaustion in chronic viral infections with the chronic lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) mouse model. Since June 2019, Anna has been working on B cell lymphomas in the context of chronic virus infections as PhD student in Prof. Dr. Richard Chahwan’s group, University of Zurich (UZH). Besides science, Anna likes to go hiking and stand-up paddling.
