Alessandro completed his bachelor's degree in Biology at ETHZ in 2016. He then stayed at ETHZ to pursue a master's degree in Biochemistry. During his master's thesis, Alessandro studied the potential for natural product biosynthesis in marine sponge symbionts. After finishing his master's in 2018, he decided to continue his studies in the laboratory of Prof. Jörn Piel to pursue his PhD and continue to study marine natural products, with a focus on ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides (RiPPs). In his free time, Alessandro enjoys skiing, hiking, and other sports, as well as spending time with his family and friends.
