MindSet 2026 - Destination Unknown: The Reality Check on Humanity’s Multi-Planetary Future

🚀 Humanity has always looked to the stars—but are we really ready to become a multi-planetary species? As plans for Moon and Mars settlements and commercial space exploration accelerate, fundamental questions remain: Can humans truly thrive beyond Earth? Who will govern and own resources in space? And is “Planet B” a realistic survival strategy—or a dangerous distraction from protecting our home planet?

Join the MindSet panel as we bring together specialists from science, technology and law to explore the reality of humanity’s future beyond Earth - and challenge the assumptions shaping our multi-planetary ambitions:

• Claude Nicollier – Astrophysicist, pilot and NASA astronaut, he brings first-hand experience of space travel and will share insights from his experiences beyond Earth.
• Prof. Dr. Brice-Olivier Demory (University of Bern) – As professor in astrophysics and medical sensing he will provide scientific insights into the conditions and technologies needed to support human life in space.
• Dr. Florian Kehl (ETH Zürich) – As director of Space Research, he will explore the technological challenges and possibilities of space travel and long-term human habitation beyond Earth.
• Dr. Rodrigo Polanco (World Trade Institute) – As legal advisor at the Swiss Institute for Comparative Law, he will discuss the legal frameworks and challenges surrounding human activity and settlement in space.
