Julia is originally from Barcelona, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology. She then moved to London to study an MSc in Genetics of Human Disease at UCL. There she specialized in anti-cancer personalized therapies. After a quick break, where she worked in biodiversity conservation, Julia started her PhD journey at the Life Science Zurich Graduate School in 2022. She works at the Department of Neurology, Universitätspital Zürich, and her research focuses on drug repurposing to target the glutamate in glioblastoma. Outside of the lab, her passions include anything arts and crafts related (pottery, painting, knitting, drawing…), baking, cooking international dishes, traveling and spending quality time with her friends.
