Originally from Italy, Anna earned her Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Master’s in Medical Biotechnology at the University of Milan. During her master’s, she spent a year in Leiden, the Netherlands, as an Erasmus+ fellow in Prof. Michel’s electrophysiology lab, where she studied circadian rhythms for her thesis. She later moved to San Francisco to join the Canzio Lab at UCSF as a research assistant, investigating how chromosome architecture influences neural wiring. Since 2023, Anna has been pursuing her PhD in Neuroscience in Prof. Sebastian Jessberger’s lab at the University of Zurich, where she studies how microglia regulate neurogenesis in the adult and developing hippocampus using two-photon in vivo imaging and brain organoids. When not imaging, Anna loves exploring the outdoors. She runs a social media page dedicated to hikes and things to do in Zürich and across Switzerland.
