12-2015 - Dow Chemical

Dear LSZYSN members,

For our last Career Chat event before Christmas we have invited Prof. Dr. Wiltrud Treffenfeldt , Chief Technology Officer for DOW Chemical Company in Europe, Middle East, Africa and India.

Prof. Treffenfeldt holds an engineering degree in food and biotechnology from the Technical University in Berlin as well as a PhD from Dortmund University, Germany. She has worked for 16 years at Degussa (now Evonik) in several managing positions as Director for Biochemical and Environmental Process Technology. After joining Dow in 2001, she has held several R&D leadership positions in industrial biotechnology and biopharma. Accompanying this, she also actively participates in several industry and research organisations and was appointed to the BioEconomy council, which advises German ministries. For this event she will give an outline of her career, the challenges she faced and highlight the opportunities open for scientists outside academia.
