Curriculum vitae

Maria-Nieves Sanz (born 1982) completed her PhD with highest honor and the European Mention in 2010 at the Department of Animal Physiology, University of Salamanca (Spain). During her doctoral studies, Maria-Nieves studied new metabolic effects of drugs prescribed in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Then, she moved to Paris (France) to carry out two post-doctoral positions at the Institut Cochin (2011-2013) and the Laboratory of Signaling and Cardiovascular Pathophysiolgy, University of Paris Sud (2013-2015). In Paris, she expanded her interest in the search of new metabolic strategies for treating diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. In 2015, she was awarded with an European Society of Cardiology Research Grant to integrate the team of Cardiovascular Surgery of Prof. Thierry Carrel at Inselspital (Bern). She has joined the LSZYSN in late 2015. During her spare time, Maria-Nieves enjoys making picnics with friends and visiting arts exhibitions.
