David completed his bachelor studies in Microbiology and Genetics at the University of Vienna, during which he had successful internships at the Serbian National Institute for Veterinary Medicine (Belgrade), Fritsch, Chiari und Partner (Austria) and Roche Diagnostics (Germany). Upon obtaining a Master's degree in Microbiology and Immunology from ETH Zurich, which amongst others, involved a research project on cell-specific radioimmunotherapy in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Roger Schibli (Center for Radiopharmaceutical Sciences, Paul Scherrer Institute), he embarked on a PhD position in the laboratories of Prof. Dr. Andreas Plückthun (Department of Biochemistry, University of Zurich). There, he is currently researching novel DARPin-based cancer therapeutics as well as their receptor-dependent delivery to the cytosol of malignant cells. In his free time he enjoys winter sports, diving and climbing.
